Richard Burchard


Richard Burchard is Associate Professor of Music and Executive Composer-in-Residence at Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY. His portfolio includes over 100 commissioned works. His choral music has been performed extensively throughout the Unites States with several premieres at state, regional and national events including ACDA and NCCO.  International premieres include Australia, Austria, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. 

Burchard is published with Pavane Publishing and The Fred Bock Music Publishing Group, having titles with Gentry Publishing, Hinshaw Music, National Music Publishers and the H.T.FitzSimons Company. He has two choral series with Gentry Publications: The Choral Music of Richard Burchard and The Richard Burchard Choral Series. His large-scale works include: The Seven Last Words of Christ, an 8-movement work for choir and strings, Stabat Mater for choir, strings, three trombones and clarinet; and Falling Stars, a six-movement work for choir, strings, piano, harp and clarinet. 

Burchard was named the Kentucky Music Teachers Association 2008 Commissioned Composer and has served as composer-in-residence for The Louisville Vocal Project, Voces Novae, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, The Cathedral of the Assumption, as well as The University of Kentucky Choral Department, and The American Cathedral in Paris, France.
